HAMILTON
1963 Thor II
Asymmetrical Watch
Original JB Champion Bracelet
Swiss Made
In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Hamilton adopted the "space age" theme in its watch designs, coinciding with the enthusiasm of the American space program. These watches, known as "Asymmetrical", often had names inspired by space, although not exclusively. While many asymmetric models were equipped with electric movements such as the 500, 500A or 505, some featured mechanical or automatic movements.
A prime example of a mechanical asymmetric model is the 1959 Thor, which was produced for just three years before being discontinued in 1961. The Thor II, introduced in 1963 and produced for two years, closely resembles the Thor I.
In this opportunity, we are offering this beautiful and UNIQUE timepiece: a vintage Hamilton Thor II wristwatch from 1963.
It is a manual-wind watch powered with an original Hamilton movement grade 686, 17 jewels, sub second hand and Swiss made.
Cased in a 30.6x29mm asymmetric case, this wristwatch features a dramatically unique triangular design with elegantly curved sides, all in 10K rolled gold plated. Original signed crown.
The champagne dial features gold Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6, and 9 (in a different font from its predecessor, the Thor I), gold stick hour markers and matching gold hands. The small second hand is positioned at 6 o'clock position. The Hamilton name is signed at the top of the dial.
It comes on the original multicolor JB Champion stainless steel expansion bracelet.
After 60 years, it is a very rare and good looking watch! Runs very well and keeps great time!

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men’s watches typically measure between 29-36mm wide (some larger, some smaller) excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women’s watches from the 1900s-1970s were also much smaller than today's offerings. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.
We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust the lighting, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
The condition is pre-owned.
The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear but is fully operational and functions as intended.
Please review the photos and feel free to ask any questions you may have.
It will be carefully packed.
